Haugerud farm is idyllically located in Spydeberg in Indre Østfold Municipality, approximately 45 minutes outside Oslo. Here there are traces of people all the way back to the Stone Age. The Haugerud farm was bought by Gunder and his wife Maren in 1885, and has since been in the family's possession.
After many years in Oslo, Astrid Een Thuen and Tor-Erling Thømt Ruud decided to take over the farm in the summer of 2018. They are now the fifth generation to live and run there. The farm is run organically and has been Debio approved since October 2020.
Astrid and Thor-Erling are keen to take care of the land on which it is cultivated. An important driving force and goal for them is to be able to produce products of high quality, in interaction with the surrounding nature.
They grow green asparagus. The season starts around 17 May and lasts 4 weeks. Asparagus is often called the queen of vegetables, and is slightly bitter with a good taste of sugar snap peas and nuts.
Since they took over, they have also increased the production of other vegetables, such as sugar snap peas, squash, beetroot, cabbage, asparagus beans and lettuce.
In addition, they have a flower field with cut flowers. They provide local and sustainably produced bouquets and buckets of flowers in season.
